Placement options of the power unit from industrial ESP perpetrator system

The high-voltage power unit is considered the "heart" of electrostatic industrial electrostatic precipitation equipment, highlighting its critical importance. This unit transforms 0–380V AC power into high voltage ranging from thousands to tens of thousands of volts. After precise rectification by the high-voltage rectifier, it outputs stable negative DC high voltage. This current is regulated by damping resistors and safely delivered to the electrostatic field through a high-voltage isolation switch, providing a constant supply of high-voltage static electricity for the purification process.
In terms of placement, there are three common installation options in the industry:
Standalone
Installed separately from the electrostatic precipitator main housing.
Top-Mounted
Positioned on top of the electrostatic precipitator main housing.
Front-Mounted or Side-Mounted
Attached to the front or side of the electrostatic precipitator main housing.
The latter two belong to integrated designs with the main equipment body. This article will analyze the advantages and disadvantages of each placement option, offering valuable insights for professionals in the field.

Features of Standalone power units

 The standalone installation mode for the power unit involves placing it completely separate from the electrostatic precipitator filtration devices, sometimes even in a dedicated indoor electrical room. The main advantage of this approach is that it allows safe inspection and maintenance of the power unit while the purification device is in operation, ensuring operator safety and stable equipment performance.
However, this setup comes with significant drawbacks:
Higher installation costs
This includes the construction of an additional electrical room and the cost of laying extra cables.
Signal attenuation
High-voltage cable transmission over long distances may result in signal weakening.
Electromagnetic interference
 Multiple cables can generate interference with each other, potentially impacting the stable operation of the factory use electrostatic precipitators and increasing the risk of malfunctions.
As a result, while standalone power unit installations offer unique advantages in specific scenarios, they are relatively uncommon in the industry today.

Features of top-mounted power units

As early as 2004, Kleanland’s first-generation industrial electrostatic precipitator Filter featured a power unit installed on top of the equipment. This integrated design eliminated additional installation costs.
This placement is similar to the installation of power units in most electrostatic precipitators. The power unit's protection level (typically IP55) meets outdoor operational requirements. The high voltage output from the power unit is delivered directly to the electrostatic filtration cells via a high-voltage isolation switch, without the need for high-voltage cable connections. This reduces potential failure points and makes maintenance relatively simple, especially for small airflow devices. 

Features of Front-mounted power units

As industrial demands continued to grow, Kleanland upgraded its industrial waste gas Air Purification equipment in 2007. A key improvement was moving the power unit to a front-mounted position. This innovative design greatly improved the user experience for large airflow devices, making operation and maintenance much easier and more efficient.
Front-mounted installation also enhanced the power unit's heat dissipation and protected it from direct sunlight exposure, which often occurs with top-mounted units. This effectively reduced heat buildup and significantly extended the lifespan of electronic components.
While some manufacturers opt to install the power unit on the side of the equipment, the performance benefits compared to front-mounted installation are minimal. Kleanland's front-mounted design, with its excellent heat dissipation and user-friendly features, remains a leading choice in the industry.
